Choosing Yours
A peel is a prescription. Not a product.
Every chemical peel does the same fundamental thing: it dissolves the bonds holding dead, damaged cells to the surface so the skin underneath can come forward. What separates a good result from an irritated one is which acid, at what strength, on which skin.
That is the whole argument for medical-grade. A retail peel is formulated to be safe on everybody, which means it is optimised for nobody. These three are chosen against the skin in front of us — oil-soluble acid for a congested skin that needs the work done inside the pore, large-molecule acids for a reactive skin that flares at the first sign of aggression, trichloroacetic acid when the concern has moved past the surface entirely.
All three are rated for Fitzpatrick I–VI — every skin tone. That matters more than it sounds. A badly chosen peel on deeper skin risks post-inflammatory pigmentation, which is the opposite of what you came in for, and it is the single most common reason people are told they “cannot have” peels at all.

- You want visible correction. Fine lines, wrinkles, settled discolouration — that is the Smart TCA
- You break out, and one acid has not been enough. Inflamed, persistent acne wants the layered Alpha Beta Peel, built at consultation
- The two $175 peels need no downtime. Both are formulated to be worn out of the building — expect a mild flush that settles, not a visible peel
- Smart TCA is the one that works deeper and behaves accordingly. Your provider will tell you exactly what to plan for before you book it, and it is worth asking that question in advance
- Peels reward a series. One peel refreshes; a course changes the skin. Pigment and texture in particular respond to repetition rather than intensity
- Results build over the following week as the surface turns over. The day-after skin is not the finished result
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids several days before — ask us how many, it depends on the peel and on what you use
- Come with no fresh tan or sunburn. Recently sun-exposed skin peels unpredictably
- Daily SPF afterwards is not optional. A peel brings up new skin; unprotected sun on it undoes the entire treatment and can pigment it
- Tell us about cold sores, isotretinoin use, active eczema or psoriasis in the area, and any recent waxing
- Do not pick or scrub while the skin is turning over
Please note: pricing is per treatment. Your provider confirms the right formulation, and whether a single peel or a course suits your skin, at your appointment — and will happily talk you out of the more expensive one if the cheaper one is the correct answer.

One formulation, one session. This is where most people start — and for congestion or sensitivity, it is often all that is needed.
Layered Peels
More than one concern? More than one acid.
Real skin rarely presents one problem at a time. Layering combines acid families in a single session to reach further than any one of them does alone.
Peels pair well with the rest of the skin menu — many clients alternate a peel with a medical-grade facial for maintenance between corrective treatments. If your concern is textural scarring rather than surface pigment, microneedling or CO₂ resurfacing reach depths no peel can, and your provider will say so plainly rather than sell you a course that will not get you there.
